Zimbabwe court orders reinstatement of union leader
After a year of fighting the unfair dismissal of ZEWU president Angeline Chitambo, the Zimbabwe labour court ruled in her favour. Her dismissal was unfair, and she should be reinstated without any loss of salary.
Bangladesh defends new labour law amid criticism
Bangladesh on Thursday defended its new labour laws, and said it was angry at criticism from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) which called the legislation inadequate.
Mining: South African unions declare wage war
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), Solidarity and UASA on Wednesday announced that they had declared a wage dispute with the Chamber of Mines.
The deadlock has been referred to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), the unions said.
