Malaysia sets a new record of RM216.5 billion for approved direct investments in 2013

Malaysia again had a new record breaking year of investments in the manufacturing, services and primary sectors in 2013 with total approved investments of RM216.5 billion, a very commendable achievement amidst a challenging external environment. In 2012, the country attracted a total of RM167.8 billion in direct investments, which was the highest amount ever recorded.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia mencatatkan rekod baharu pelaburan tahun lalu dengan jumlah pelaburan keseluruhan diluluskan berjumlah RM216.5 bilion, mengatasi rekod tertinggi sebelum ini RM167.8 bilion yang dicatat pada 2012. 

Perkara itu diumumkan Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, hari ini. 


Beliau berkata pelaburan diluluskan itu merangkumi 5,669 projek membabitkan 14 projek mega dan 82 projek besar yang masing-masing bernilai lebih RM1 bilion dan RM100 juta setiap satu, yang majoritinya adalah industri bernilai tinggi dan mencatat pertumbuhan tinggi. 


Sektor perkhidmatan menyumbang sebahagian besar daripada pelaburan diluluskan tahun lalu, mewakili RM144.7 bilion atau 66.8 peratus, diikuti pembuatan RM52.1 bilion (24.1 peratus) dan sektor utama RM19.7 bilion (9.1 peratus).
