MALAYSIA:::ETC systems causing loss of employment for workers

The Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) is disappointed with the loss of jobs for workers at toll booths, by reason of automation or the ‘electronic toll collection’ (ETC) system. Many local workers, especially women workers, have lost their jobs by this move by highway toll operators. The Malaysian government failed to protect employment of workers, when these companies choose to do away with human workers in favour of automation.

MALAYSIA:::Why skilled foreign workers not priority

: It is not possible to hire skilled foreign workers for now because Malaysia has not recognised skills certificates from source countries for such workers.
Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) executive director Datuk Shamsuddin Bardan said this in response to a statement by Deputy Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib on Friday advising employers to hire trained and skilled registered foreign workers to prevent the risk of accidenyts at the workplace.

MALAYSIA:::Kesatuan sekerja penting untuk kejayaan syarikat

Profesor Dr Balakrishnan Parasuraman dari Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) melancarkan buku kajiannya bertajuk ‘Employee Participation in Malaysia: Theory and Practices’ buat julung kalinya di Sabah.
Balakrishnan berkata, buku yang dilancarkan itu adalah sebahagian daripada tesis yang dilakukannya ketika di Universiti Wollongog Australia dan kemudian diterbitkan oleh UMK Press.
“Buku ini adalah berkenaan peranan kesatuan pekerja dan majikan serta proses pembuat keputusan yang mana terdapat tiga kajian kes dilakukan, iaitu dua kes berkenaan kesatuan sekerja dan satu kes berkenaan tiada kesatuan.
