Socso to conduct nationwide enforcement on employers who have yet to register their workers

KUALA LUMPUR: The Social Security Organisation (Socso) will conduct nationwide enforcement operations against employers who have yet to register their workers, said its chief executive officer Datuk K. Selvarajah.
He said the deadline to register was on Sept 1, after which action would be taken against those failing to do so.

"During this two months, we will not take action against employers if their voluntarily register their workers with Socso before the Sept 1 deadline.
"However, they will still be required to make the Socso contributions for the employees," he said this when launching the workshop themed Social Security Programme A Joint Effort in conjunction with the start of Ops Kesan on Monday.
He said that some 300 officers would go from premise to premise to identify employers who fail to register their workers and issue on the spot compounds after the Sept 1 deadline.
On a related issue, Selvarajah said some 5,128 employers were compounded a total of RM3.22mil last year for failing to register their workers including late submission of accident reports said
