AUSTRALIA:::600 union members hit Queensland Parliament to protest industrial relations laws changes and anti-bikie legislation

SOME 600 union members have rallied outside State Parliament to protest changes to industrial relations laws and the broadness of anti-bikie legislation.
Union officials addressed the rally members, including Opposition leader Annastacia Palaszczuk and most of her small Labor team.

Queensland Council of Unions president John Battams told the banner-waving crowd the Newman Government was "divisive" and "tricky" and was rapidly eroding workers' rights.
"What we're seeing is a rearrangement of the fundamental rights of workers in favour of the employer," he said.
"You must tell people this is the way this government operates.
"We can't have people losing their freedom. We can't have a state where workers don't have the right to go on strike."
He said the Newman Government was not governing for everyone in Queensland.
"At the end of the day what do we have?" he asked.
"We have fear and we have division."
Parliament is currently debating changes to industrial relations laws, which will see senior public service staff moved on to individual contracts and employees lose public holiday loadings until they are moved on to "modern" awards.
The Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee recommended the legislation be passed after a number of public hearings where unions and employer groups presented their views.
