MALAYSIA:::Socso Presents Cheque To Widow Of Man Killed In Container Mishap

 
KEPALA BATAS, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) has presented a cheque to the widow of the man killed in a container mishap at North Butterworth Container Terminal (NBCT).

Penang SOCSO office manager Mamsor Abdul Manaf said the agency made the payment as the victim was working when the mishap occurred on Dec 17.

He handed over a cheque for RM1,500 to Mazni Mansor and Syazwiana Auwatif, the widow and daughter of the victim, Shahidi Ashraf Zainal Abidin.

"The pension to the victim's family will start on Jan 2, 2014 where the widow and the daughter will receive about RM1,600 monthly," he told reporters here Tuesday.

Shahidi Ashraf, 27, an employee of Syarikat Cyrus, died of severe head injuries after he fell and was crushed by a container while working at NBCT.

Mazni, 28, a nurse at Kulim District Hospital said that she was very grateful to SOCSO for the financial assistance.

"While the money cannot bring back Shahidi, I really appreciate the assistance given by various parties including SOCSO and Syarikat Cyrus," she added.
