MALAYSIA - 5,000 vacancies on offer at job fair for the disabled

PETALING JAYA: At least 5,000 jobs will be available for disabled persons at the Social Security Organisation’s (Socso) Return To Work job carnival this Saturday.

The carnival, which is in its fourth year, will see major companies and brands, including AEON, Padini, Giant, Shangri La Hotel and Mydin, offering positions ranging from office clerk to restaurant manager.
“All the participating companies have expressed keen interest in offering jobs to disabled persons.
“These companies have been working closely with Socso in providing employment for Socso beneficiaries who lost their jobs due to accidents or illnesses.
“More than 30 employers will be offering jobs,” said Socso head of job placement and employment support Gayathri Vadivel.
The job carnival opens at 10am till 4pm at KL Sentral station.
Job seekers are advised to bring their certificates and documents and be dressed formally for on-the-spot interviews.
The job fair, initially targeted at sourcing employment for beneficiaries of Socso’s Return To Work programme, is open to the public.
Over 7,300 people who lost their earning capacity due to illness, accident or disability have returned to work since the launch of the programme in 2007 while another 646 are still seeking employment.
