MALAYSIA:::Socso asked to provide more info on health screening to employees

MARAN: The Social Security Organisation (Socso) needs to provide more information on its free health screening campaign by explaining the need for employees to undergo medical examinations, said Deputy Human Resource Minister Datuk Ismail Abd Muttalib.
He said the free health screening scheme that Socso implemented last year, for which the government allocated RM200 million, had not received the desired response.

“Over the past year only 320,000 people have undergone screening at the panel clinics appointed by Sosco, when Socso had actually targeted 1.9 million of its members and handed out that number of vouchers for them to undergo screening,” he told reporters after launching the Parent-Teacher Association meeting at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Maran here, yesterday.
He said he hoped that employees, especially those aged 40 years and above who are at high risk of getting non-communicable diseases, would immediately undergo the free health screening in order to detect diseases at an early stage. — Bernama
