MALAYSIA:::If Anwar is innocent, accept it, says Dr M

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today that the people should accept whatever verdict was delivered by the Federal Court on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Sodomy II case tomorrow.
The former prime minister, who sacked Anwar in 1998 as the deputy prime minister and finance minister, said that in a country that upholds the law, any court decision should be accepted and respected.

"People must accept. The country is after all governed by the law," said Dr Mahathir at a function in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi, Selangor today.
Dr Mahathir said it was important that the country's judicial system was not undermined by the people.
"Let no one say later that, when it comes to a man in position, nothing is being done," he said.
The Federal Court will announce tomorrow its verdict over the Sodomy II case that began in 2008, when Anwar pleaded not guilty to sodomising his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
Anwar was acquitted by the High Court in 2012, but the Court of Appeal overturned the decision last year, just days before he was to contest in the Kajang by-election.
The Federal Court will decide whether to uphold the Court of Appeal’s verdict, or stand by the High Court’s decision.
The PKR de facto leader in his defence denied sodomising Saiful and said the allegations against him were false.
